As you know at the moment, great efforts are being made to bring about quantum computation, a rather slow process due to the study of the components that, at the moment, have not been miniaturized as it should be. Such computers must be built with many qubits, the basic unit of advanced quantum information. Thus, the space between one qubit and another has to be a few nanometers so that the qubits can interlace quickly and can provide a better result. At the moment, there is a project that achieves the above but is in the research phases. Also, as you know, quantum memory is capable of storing information in a way very similar to that of current home computers, but in individual quantum particles that allow you to take advantage of different quantum mechanical functions in the process. The team created memory modules using optical cavities made from glass doped with earth ions not known to us. Thus, each memory module measures about 700 nanometers wide by 15 microns long. On the other hand, in the process with these modules had to be cooled and thus, to generate a laser that will pump the individual photons. The result was that the photons were released 75 seconds later, thus, information was retained for much longer and as an effect of 97%, data quite important for quantum computation. Andrei Faraon, author describing the new chip explains: This device is an essential component for the future development of optical Quantum Networks that could be used to transmit Quantum information. To conclude, we must indicate that the team intends to extend the time that memory can store the information, something that would be extremely important for future days in the quantum research of data movement at an unthinkable speed.
