The progressive development of mobile technology has made it possible for almost anyone to have access to a smartphone, and if we add the great possibilities that Blockchain offers, having a mobile that allows running exclusively applications based on this technology, is an alternative whose use we should all consider. This is precisely what Sirin Labs is looking for, a company that recently partnered with Foxconn International Holding (FIH) to develop the first smartphone based on the Blockchain technology of the world. The announcement, issued last April, reveals that FIH will be responsible for the design and assembly of the devices, called Finney, while Sirin Labs will develop the hardware of the cryptocurrency portfolio that will incorporate the mobile and the SIRIN operating system.

Secure cryptocurrency storage

According to Engadget, Sirin Labs has presented the final specifications of this device based on Blockchain that will hit the market this year, after the firm carried out an overwhelming round of financing where it raised at least US $157 million. As we have previously said, Finney smartphones will integrate a cold cryptocurrency portfolio, a hardware that allows you to store these assets with greater security, because they do not need to remain connected to the Internet at all times and allow private keys to be stored off-line. Also, the Finney will have the Sirin OS system and the Token Conversion Service, two features that will allow the conversion of Blockchain tokens and use them in the various decentralized applications that the device will support. This will prevent users from having to access the exchange offices to obtain the tokens.

Finney smartphone specifications

The first smartphone based on Blockchain technology will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, typical of today’s high-end devices. Also, its storage will be extended to 128 GB, with a RAM of 6 GB and Android 8.1 operating system certified by the tech giant Google. In relation to the design, the Finney will have a metal frame, a screen based on Gorilla Glass technology and will be water resistant under the IP52 standard. Also, it was known that it will incorporate a fingerprint sensor for a better level of security in access to the mobile, while the main camera will be of 12 megapixels and a front camera of 8 megapixels.
